Athena is a soulful, determined, refined artist with a well trained ear and a DIY attitude. Fueled by an unrelenting desire to create soundscapes and stories, Pixie Athena has spent the last 5 years writing, performing, producing, engineering, releasing, and marketing her work. Since the age of 10, she's been singing in vocal organizations, including Children's Chorus of Greater Dallas. During her high school years, she participated in the Dallas Youth Poets slam poetry team, which competed in global competitions, including Brave New Voices. The leader of the slam poetry team, Joaquin Zihuatanejo, slam poet and author, inspired Athena to combine her poems and love of music into songwriting and pursue being a musician. By 17, she was writing songs on her Korg keyboard, ballads available only on SoundCloud. From there, she’s continued developing and perfecting her craft. Studying various songwriting and production/engineering courses at the University of North Texas with professors such as Dr. Capital, Athena combined her coursework with many years of piano and digital audio workspace practice that were self taught. She now has a generous collection of songs that are available to stream on all major platforms, or to purchase on iTunes. She does shows in the DFW metroplex using her self produced tracks, and sometimes utilizing a stripped acoustic set, typically accompanied by the talented multi-instrumentalist, Brennan Davis -- or herself. Collaborating with well cultivated artists, such as Royall, has been especially exciting and well received.

 

Sonically obsessed, her life is full of music. Whether it's playing on her speaker, hummed happily during her day to day, or drenched over her eardrums at stadiums and concert venues, she's enamored with the concept of music. Entranced by dance and disco, her latest work has been featuring more upbeat and uptempo energetic themes. ‘Invincible’ her recent single, was featured on a DFW radio station, 91.7 FM - KXT (a division of KERA). Athena is ecstatic to present ‘Distraction’ which will portray a reminiscent yet upbeat energy. Each day, Athena is garnering inspiration with each step and finding poems painted in each morning sky. Constantly, she is filled with gratitude and appreciation for the opportunities she’s received, and cherishes the audience she is lucky enough to captivate. Of course, she's always primed to take on new and exciting challenges and projects that may rest in the horizon.
